Kathryn Bigelow Newest Film Zero Dark Thirty on DVD/BD, Extras

From The Loveless (1982) to The Hurt Locker (2009), Kathryn's movies have always stayed on the right side of that fine line between independent and mainstream success and regardless of how simple her films sound on paper they always look into that which makes us human in spite of our different circumstances.

Kathryn Bigelow’s newest film "Zero Dark Thirty" was previously conceived as a movie about the decadelong hunt for the Al Qaeda leader. When Kathryn and writer Mark Boal teamed up to flesh out the concept of the movie, it was given the name "Killing Bin Laden," because the infamous Bin Laden was not yet dead. When the USA President revealed that a Navy SEAL team had indeed killed Bin Laden, Kathryn and Mark’s film became much more significant.

Zero Dark Thirty stars Jessica Chastain as Maya, Jason Clarke as Dan, Joel Edgerton as Patrick, Mark Strong as George and Jennifer Ehle as Jessica.

The story starts soon after 9/11 attacks, when Maya, a CIA officer, is put on the Bin Laden hunt. After briefly meeting with Dan, Maya branches out on her own and starts an almost decadelong hunt for the man behind the 9/11 attacks. The film ends with the attack on the building in which Bin Laden was hiding.

The film has made over $100 million since it was released in Dec 2012 and has been nominated for several Academy Awards. For more information about that, please visit Wikipedia.
