Alice in Wonderland Sequel in the Works, release date set for 2016

Four years after Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland hit theaters, grossing $ 1 billion worldwide, begins production of its sequel “Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass” directed this time by James Bobin, who worked on two recent Muppet movies.

The Disney announces the start of production in a press release, and also confirmed the cast will be a mix of returning stars and new faces.

Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass promises to revisit the stories of Lewis Carroll into a new storyline that returns to Under Land and also back in time. "Underland" is the name of the magical world visited by Alice in Burton's movie and not "Wonderland" as in classical literature, discovered that Alice misheard the name of this place, calling it always "Wonderland", when in fact, it would be "Under Land".

The Alice in Wonderland 2 main cast includes Johnny Depp (as the Mad Hatter), Anne Hathaway (White Queen), Mia Wasikowska (Alice Kingsleigh), Helena Bonham Carter (Red Queen) and Sacha Baron Cohen (Time).

The film will also see the presence of Rhys Ifans as Zanik Hightopp, the father of the Mad Hatter, Matt Lucas as Tweedledee and Tweedledum, and Ed Speleers as James Harcourt.

In voiceovers for characters visual effects will be, among others, Stephen Fry as the Cheshire Cat, Toby Jones as the voice of Wilkins, Alan Rickman as the Blue Caterpillar, Michael Sheen as the voice of the White Rabbit.

Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass debut in theaters on May 26, 2016.
