Katy Perry’s Roar conquers the Billboard Hot 100

The new single from Katy Perry reached the first place on the Billboard Hot 100. "Roar", which was second last week broke the 12-week domination of the song "Blurred Lines (Feat. Pharrell Williams, TI)" by Robin Thicke .

According to Nielsen SoundScan, sales of the song increased after the singer's performance at the VMAs, held on August 25, totaling 448,000 copies sold this week.

"Roar" is the eighth single from the singer to be the top ranked on American Hot 100, Perry becomes one of 16 artists with at least eight first singles while the Beatles lead with 20 songs at the top of the Billboard charts.

Perry will drop the music video for "Roar" today (05) while the singer's new song,"Dark Horse", which also features on her new album "Prism", will be released on 17th of this month.
