Rio, DVD, Blu-ray, Home Theaters, movie The film is produced by Blue Sky Studios and directed by Carlos Saldanha who also directed the Ice Age: The Meltdown and Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. Rio tells the story of Blu (voiced by Jesse Eisenberg), a baby blue macaw who is the last male of its kind. He is taken away from his native jungle by illegal exotic pet dealers and about to be sold at a pet store in Minnesota. But fortunately, a little girl named Linda (voiced by Leslie Mann) finds him and cares for him until an ornithologist, Tulio (voiced Rodrigo Santoro) from Brazil visits Linda who is the owner of the last female blue macaw. He convinces Linda to bring Blu home to mate with his female (Jewel voiced by Anne Hathaway) counterpart to keep his kind alive. Linda and Blu leave to Brazil where the festival is in full swing, and Blu finds himself falling for the Jewel. But Jewel wants only to escape from the cage and return to her jungle. Over the course of the movie, Blu and Jewel are stolen by robbers who are specializing in the capture and trade of exotic birds. The rest of the tale centers on Blu and Jewel’s escape attempts while Linda and Tulio try to find them.

This is one of the few animated movies that both kids and adults can watch and highly enjoy. Kids will love the beautifully colored animation and parents will get sucked in as well. There are some story lines definitely geared for adults, but not inappropriate for children, a great movie for the entire family.
