Johnny Depp's The Rum Diary Hits Home Video on Valentine’s Day

If you did not see the movie adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson’s best selling novel The Rum Diary in theaters, planning to watch it in the comfort of your own home instead, then you’ll have to mark down February 14, 2012 on your calendar, because that is the day Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is set for release The Rum Diary on DVD and Blu-ray. The DVD will be available for the price of $30.98 (SRP) while the Blu-ray will cost $35.99 (SRP), and both discs will contain extra materials such as The Rum Diary Backstory, behind-the-scenes and featurettes.

The film follows Paul Kemp (played by Johnny Depp), a New York writer who goes to Puerto Rico to work for The San Juan Star as a newspaper reporter. During his stay in Puerto Rico he encountered numerous challenges that he never experienced in New York. While writing for a newspaper on the verge of collapse, he became friends with a photographer Sala (played by Michael Rispoli) and alcohol addicted Moburg (played by Giovanni Ribisi) and soon he runs into an investor named Sanderson (played by Aaron Eckhart) who invited Paul to participate in a shady property deal. But Paul has his eyes set on Sanderson's fiancée Chenault (played by Amber Heard).
