Back in the early days of what was called Rock & Roll, singers such as Elvis and Bill Haley and the Comets, "Rock" was sort of a big band boogie sort of affair. For me at any rate it wasn't actually Rock until a little 3-piece band from Texas came along, identified as Buddy Holly and the Crickets. Rock was cut down to its bones, a bass, a guitar and drums that they didn't know truly what to do with. In that fine tradition came this group from Texas, and a new era of Tex Rock was started.
The last time we heard any new material from them was in 2003, when they dropped their fourteenth studio album Mescalero. And now, after nine-year hiatus, ZZ Top, is back with a new album “La Futura” and tour. It is set for release on September 11, 2012 through American Recordings. The album will contain the following songs:
