Stephenie Meyer! Two books and one series later, she's got 5 films and 1 more on the way. There's something about her novels that truly appeal to our hearts. One thing I will say, she's not the best writer of all time but she has a remarkable way of appealing to our mind, or our inner dreams, or fantasies. Her upcoming movie The Host is completely appropriate for all ages and truly is a great young adult science fiction story.
Directed by Andrew Niccol based on his own script, the film stars Saoirse Ronan as Melanie Stryder/Wanderer, Jake Abel as Ian O'Shea, Max Irons as Jared Howe, Chandler Canterbury as Jamie Stryder and Frances Fisher as Maggie Stryder.
The story follows Melanie Stryder a human that rejects to let her body be taken over by an alien “Wanderer”. The aliens call themselves Souls have taken over the world but Melanie won't allow her mind and body be taken over. There is a love triangle that begins because of all of this. The alien falls in love with the guy Melanie loves because Melanie fills it with the thoughts of him. One issue though he remained human through the entire attack and they have to find him and convince him that Melanie is still "alive".
The Host is scheduled for release on March 29, 2013. Open Road Films released the following posters from the film, which feature Saoirse Ronan, Jake Abel, Max Irons and Diane Kruger.
