Alison Moyet drops first single from The Minutes, UK/Ireland tour

In an industry where looks and image often seem to be more significant than talent, it is refreshing to know that - once in a while - somebody comes along with such a wonderful voice that such considerations are set aside. So it was in the 80's that singer and songwriter Alison Moyet, a woman with a strong, bluesy voice had a string of hits regardless of her unflattering looks. She is well-known in the USA as the frontwoman of the band Yaz, whose debut album took several years to go gold and platinum via mostly word of mouth. She has never achieved the level of disrepute in the United State that she has in the British. Her solo career has generated only one US hit, "Invisible" which was written by the Motown. She wrote many of her own singles, either alone or with others, but she recorded great covers.

After five-year hiatus since her last album “The Turn”, Alison Moyet is back with her eighth studio album “The Minutes” schedule for release in the USA on June 11, 2013. “When I Was Your Girl" will serve as the first single from the album and it was first aired on Ken Bruce's BBC2 radio show on March 19, 2013. The track will be available for purchase on April 01, 2013.
