Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez has signed on for an unspecified role in ‘THE 33’. That tells the story of 33 miners trapped for nearly 70 days in the San Jose mine, Chile, in 2010.
The cast will also feature Antonio Banderas, Martin Sheen and Rodrigo Santoro. Banderas will play as Sepulveda and Sheen will play Sepulveda’s father, and Santoro will play one of the miners.
Patricia Riggen is onboard to direct the film based on a script by Mikko Alanne and Jose Rivera. The filming is set to commence this fall in Chile.
This is not the first time that Jennifer and Santoro perform together. They drew audience attention for their wonderful chemistry in the romantic comedy film What to Expect When You're Expecting, based on a bestselling pregnancy book by Heidi Murkoff and Sharon Mazel.
