Philip Hoffman to star Daniel Espinosa new movie Child 44

The cast for Safe House director Daniel Espinosa’s upcoming Child 44 adaptation is coming together faster than anticipated - just few months after it was revealed that Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, Joel Kinnaman and Gary Oldman would be stepping into Daniel's shoes, Deadline is reporting that Oscar-wining actor Philip Seymour Hoffman is currently in negotiations to star in Child 44.

The story follows Leo Demidov, a former war hero, who is trustworthy to the State. A dead body of a kid is discovered on train tracks in Moscow, and his parents are certain that their kid was killed. Demidov's boss advised him to pay no attention to those details and, while he obeys, he believes there is more to the case. Action moves speedily: mixing elements of distrust, fear and human survival where truth is defined and enforced by the State. In this condition, Leo is dishonored and sent away to a remote town where more murdered kids are discovered.

Richard Price ("Bounty", "The Wire") will pen the script based on a book by Tom Rob Smith. The shooting will begin this summer for a 2014 release.
