The lead singer of Green Day will make his debut as an actor. Billie Joe Armstrong will star alongside Leighton Meester, Gossip Girl Blair, in Like Sunday, Like Rain movie. Frank Whaley will writer and direct the indie drams. Among his credits are The Jimmy Show and New York City Serenade.
Leighton's character will be a struggling musician who becomes the guardian of her student of 12 years old (Julian Shatkin), while Billie Joe plays her boyfriend. Debra Messing will play the mother of the boy, Will & Grace series.
Despite Like Sunday, Like Rain mark the debut of Billie Joe,, the star has already made several appearances in other movies such as Welcome to the 40 and 2 Anchorman: The Legend Continues.
The film is set to premiere in December.
