Fix - Lags / Stuttering while playing Dark Souls 3 (PS4 / PC)

Dark Souls 3 could be pretty choppy. To prevent frame rate drops, this solution could help you. This solution is from our own experience with the PS4 version.

If Dark Souls 3 jitters non stop, perhaps a simple trick could fix this issue. Visit the menu, choose "System" and then the "Network" tab. There you select the option to start Dark Souls 3 offline. With this trick, the PS4 version of the game runs much better.

Stuttering could of course have other causes. If you play the PC version of Dark Souls 3, then your computer might not be compatible to run the Dark Souls 3. Check the PC system requirements of the game.

FPS drops with AMD

Solution: Update your AMD drivers to version 16.4.1 and start your computer.

Furthermore, it can also cause frame rate drops with some controllers. Disconnect controller may also fix this issue.

Fix the crash at the first bonfire

Many PC gamers have to challenge with crashes that occur in the first bonfire in the first region.

Solution: Set the lighting quality to "Low" and then start the game again. If this does not work then remove a shield and then try again. A third possibility is the choice of the knight as Start-Class. With it, it will not crash when you go to the first bonfire.

Fix the error message “The instruction at 0x420230f6 referenced memory at 0x0000015c. The memory could not be written”

Solution: A common problem for which there is no fix yet.

Fix: issues with PS4 controllers

Solution: If you use the DualShock 4 controller, go to the Settings window for DS4 and marked the checkbox "Hide DS4 controller" in the game menu. Also be sure that you have installed Bus Driver to SCPDriver in virtual folders. Connect the controller via USB and start the ScpServer.exe.

Fix: Unable to Summon Phantom

Solution: Unable to summon phantoms, this usually means that another player quickly here he got the phantom before you. Simply activate all symbols that you see in front of boss portals or near lights, and you should have success.

Fix: Screen resolution issues on Windows 10

Under Windows 10, there may be problems with the screen resolution. This leads to different resolutions in window and full screen mode.

Solution: Go DARKSOULS.exe in compatibility mode with Windows 7. If this does not help, you can manually edit the DarkSouls.ini. It is among C:\Users\EUERNAME\AppData\Local\NBGI\DarkSouls. Set the following parameters:

borderlessFullscreen 1
forceWindowed 1
forceFullscreen 0

In the game menu you can also switch between windows and full screen mode.
