Elden Ring: Nightreign Solo Guide – How to Survive Alone & Beat the Nightlords

Updated May 31 (patch 1.02)

Elden Ring: Nightreign is built for co-op, but daring Tarnished can still brave it alone. Enemy health is scaled for solo players, but with no revives, relentless foes, and harsh permadeath rules, it's a punishing experience.

This guide breaks down the best solo classes, essential survival strategies, and the tools you’ll need to defeat the Nightlords—no teammates required.

🎮 How to Play Nightreign Solo

  1. Go to Roundtable Hold and interact with the central table.

  2. Matchmaking Settings → Expedition Type → Single Player.

  3. Select a target and begin the run—no matchmaking needed.

⚠️ Note: Solo mode disables revives. One death ends the entire expedition.

🧱 Best Classes for Solo Play

Elden Ring: Nightreign Solo Guide
1. Raider – The Unstoppable Bruiser

  • Why: Highest HP, powerful staggers, strong defenses

  • Playstyle: Aggressive tank

  • 🗡️ Key Ability: Retaliate (damage reduction + counterattack)

2. Ironeye – The Safe Ranged Option

  • Why: Excels at ranged DPS, avoids melee risks

  • Playstyle: Precise, safe, mobile

  • 🗡️ Key Ability: Marking (evasion + damage buff)

3. Guardian – The Immovable Tank

  • Why: Best block and guard counter potential

  • Playstyle: Defensive, methodical

  • 🗡️ Key Ability: Shield Bash (stun + follow-up)

❌ Avoid: Duchess (fragile), Revenant (weak summons), Recluse (slow casting)

🧠 Essential Solo Survival Tips

1. Prioritize Flask Upgrades

  • Seek Statues of Marika (church icons)

  • Aim for +2 Healing Flasks before boss fights

2. Buy Wending Grace (Solo Revive)

  • Sold by merchants

  • Grants one-time revive—solo-only item

3. Fight Smart, Not Hard

  • Lure enemies 1-on-1

  • Use bait and punish tactics, especially with Executor’s deflects

4. Optimize Relics & Gear

  • Visit the blue-candle altar in Roundtable Hold

  • Equip Rune Acquisition relics to level faster

5. Know When to Run

  • The map shrinks with toxic gas

  • If cornered or losing, retreat and reset

🆕 Update 1.02 – Automatic Revival for Solo Runs

Patch 1.02 adds a crucial solo-friendly feature: automatic revival upon defeat (once per expedition). This gives solo Tarnished a second chance—no item required.

• ✅ Triggers automatically when you die during a solo run
• ✅ Revives you on the spot with 50% HP
• ⚠️ Works only once per expedition—no stacking with Wending Grace

Tip: You can still buy Wending Grace for an additional revive, giving solo players up to two total chances per run. Use them wisely against Nightlords!

🧾 Is Solo Play Worth It?

Pros:

✔️ Ultimate challenge for Souls veterans
✔️ No dependence on teammates
✔️ Enemy HP is reduced

Cons:

❌ No revives
❌ Bosses often favor team strategies
❌ Slower progress due to permadeath

Verdict:

Solo mode is viable, but punishing. It’s perfect for skilled players craving high-stakes tension and tactical mastery.
