Mewgenics Class Unlock Guide (2026): All Secret Classes & Collar Requirements

If you've moved beyond the Fighter and Mage and are wondering how to unlock secret classes in Mewgenics (2026), this guide covers every collar unlock requirement, including Cleric, Thief, Necromancer, Monk, Psychic, and more.

In Mewgenics, a cat’s class is determined by the collar it wears. While you begin with four basic classes, the strongest builds require unlocking advanced collars through story progression and NPC interaction.

How Class Unlocking Works in Mewgenics

Unlocking classes follows a consistent system:

  1. Complete a major zone.
  2. Return to your house hub.
  3. Speak with Butch in the Back Alley.
  4. Receive the new collar permanently.

Important: Butch is located in the Back Alley of your house hub — not inside dungeons. Many players search for him in combat areas and miss their unlock.

Permanent Collar Box Explained

Once unlocked, collars are permanently added to your Collar Box. You do NOT need to rediscover them in future runs. You can equip them to any kitten before sending them on an adventure.

Best Class Unlock Order (Recommended)

  1. Cleric – Survival boost through healing.
  2. Thief – Mobility & resource efficiency.
  3. Necromancer – Boss control via summons.
  4. Butcher – Raw melee power scaling.

Psychic, Monk, and Jester are powerful but best pursued once you have strong genetics and mutation builds.

🧠 Advanced Self-Imposed Challenges

Once you can consistently defeat the early Act 1 bosses, consider raising the difficulty yourself. These self-imposed challenges won’t unlock secret achievements — but they will sharpen your positioning, mutation synergy, and turn planning skills dramatically.

1️⃣ The Collarless Run

Complete an Act 1 boss without equipping collars on any cat. This forces you to rely entirely on base stats, mutation synergy, and smart positioning instead of passive bonuses. It’s one of the best ways to test whether your strategy is truly solid — especially against Dybbuk or Spinnerette.

2️⃣ Two-Cat Lean Boss Clear

Bring only two cats into the boss fight instead of a full squad. With fewer bodies to soak damage, every turn matters. This challenge improves target priority decisions and teaches you how to control adds efficiently.

3️⃣ No-Healer Clear

Attempt an early boss without a Cleric. This forces aggressive tempo play and smart defensive positioning. You’ll need to prevent damage instead of reacting to it, which builds strong fundamentals for later Acts.

Why Try These?

  • Improves tactical positioning
  • Forces smarter mutation and build synergy
  • Prepares you for harder mid-game bosses
  • Makes normal runs feel significantly easier

These challenges are optional — but if you can consistently clear Act 1 bosses under these restrictions, you’re ready for the real difficulty spikes ahead.
