Every Blade at a Glance
Can You Miss Blades?
No Blades are permanently missable.
The optional Hero's Grave Blades can be skipped during your initial playthrough, but you can return to completed chapters through Chapter Select and collect anything you missed.
The Chapter Select screen also helps track your Blade progress, making it easier to identify which chapter still contains an uncollected weapon.
Story weapons such as the Rusty Sword and Falchion are obtained automatically, while the other standard Blades require exploration and Hero's Grave puzzles.
Even though the weapons aren't permanently missable, collecting them during your first visit is still the best approach. It saves you from replaying chapters later and lets you use each Blade's technique as soon as possible.
Hero's Graves Explained
Most of the optional Blades in Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy are hidden inside Hero's Graves.
These optional tombs usually have several recognizable features:
- A large warrior or bull-like monument
- A sealed tomb entrance
- A sphere or light mechanism nearby
- Colored light nodes that must be aligned
- A large chest containing the Blade
When you discover one, don't simply walk past it.
The usual process is:
- Find the Hero's Grave entrance.
- Locate the nearby sphere mechanism.
- Look for the colored light targets.
- Rotate the sphere or mirrors until the beams align.
- Enter the opened tomb.
- Open the large chest to collect the Blade.
The puzzles become more involved as you progress, but the basic principle remains the same.
Chapter 1 — Rusty Sword
π Chapter / Sub-chapter
Chapter I: Blood Ties
πΊ️ Exact location
This is Sophia's first weapon and is obtained automatically during the opening story sequence.
π How to unlock
- Progress through the opening escape.
- Complete the introductory combat tutorial.
- Sophia equips the Rusty Sword automatically.
⚔️ Technique
None. The Rusty Sword has no special combat technique and mainly serves as Sophia's introductory weapon.
π― Best use
Use it to practice:
- Perfect parries
- Critical Strikes
- Enemy stagger timing
The opening encounters are an ideal place to learn the game's basic combat rhythm before the more specialized Blades become available.
❗ Missable?
No. It is a story-related weapon.
π Trophy relevance
The Rusty Sword counts toward the Blade collection and the requirements for using every Blade.
Chapter 2 — Falchion
π Chapter / Sub-chapter
Chapter II — The Carnival
πΊ️ Exact location
The Falchion is obtained during the Chapter 2 story sequence around the boats and church. Follow the main objective through this sequence until the weapon acquisition.
Navigation
- Reach the boats.
- Climb the church tower.
- Light the signal.
- Continue through the chest-related story sequence near the boats.
- Complete the required story interaction.
- After the acquisition sequence, the Falchion is added to Sophia's available Blades.
Heritage Pack: If you own the Heritage Pack, the Hero's Blade is also acquired alongside the Falchion during this sequence. The in-game acquisition screen shows both Blades being added at this point. The Hero's Blade is a bonus DLC weapon and does not require a separate Hero's Grave.
π How to unlock
The Falchion is a story-related Blade. Progress through Chapter 2 and complete the required story sequence near the boats; it cannot be missed during normal progression.
⚔️ Technique: Momentum Strike
Deal bonus Blade damage immediately after performing a successful Critical Strike. This is one of the strongest early-game techniques because it rewards players who master parrying and Critical Strikes.
π― Best use
Perfect for duel-heavy encounters against armored soldiers. If you're already comfortable with perfect parries, Momentum Strike gives you an immediate damage advantage after creating an opening.
❗ Missable?
No. The Falchion is obtained through normal story progression.
π Trophy relevance
The Falchion contributes to the game's Blade collection and Blade-use requirements. The Hero's Blade is a DLC/Heritage Pack weapon and should be tracked separately from the standard story Blade collection.
Chapter 4 — Kopis
π Chapter / Sub-chapter
Chapter IV — Puzzles and Traps
πΊ️ Exact location
After escaping the collapsing spike corridor, don't continue with the main path immediately.
Navigation
- Escape the ceiling spike room.
- Squeeze through the narrow crack.
- Interact with the stone pedestal.
- Descend into the Hero's Grave.
- Open the large treasure chest.
π How to unlock
Complete the optional tomb sequence and open the Hero's Grave chest. The Kopis is the first major optional Blade you'll encounter while exploring the game's Hero's Graves.
⚔️ Technique: Stagger Blow
The final hit of Sophia's combo delivers a powerful stun attack.
π― Best use
Excellent against shielded enemies and elite guards because it fills the stun meter quickly. If you prefer breaking enemy defenses instead of relying entirely on Critical Strikes, Kopis is an excellent early choice.
❗ Missable?
No. The Hero's Grave can be revisited later through Chapter Select.
π Trophy relevance
Required for the Blade-collection and Blade-use achievements.
Chapter 5 — Greek Sword
π Chapter / Sub-chapter
Chapter V — The Four Symbols
πΊ️ Exact location
This Blade is hidden near the ruined camp surrounded by broken pillars.
Navigation
- Reach the camp.
- Turn left before entering the central campfire.
- Climb the collapsed stone pillars.
- Reach the seagull nest.
- Rotate the circular sphere until all three colors align.
- Enter the Hero's Grave.
The route requires you to climb the collapsed stone structure and reach the elevated area where the sphere mechanism can be accessed.
π How to unlock
Solve the three-color Light Beam puzzle. The important part is reaching the elevated position where the sphere can be aligned with the colored targets around the tomb.
⚔️ Technique: Spinning Slash
Sophia replaces her normal dagger-based Critical Strike with a sweeping spin that damages nearby enemies.
π― Best use
The strongest crowd-control Blade in the game. Spinning Slash is especially useful when several enemies are close together, making the Greek Sword a strong choice for players who dislike fighting enemies one at a time.
❗ Missable?
No. You can return through Chapter Select if you skip the Hero's Grave during your first run.
Chapter 6 — Sica
π Chapter / Sub-chapter
Chapter VI — What Lies Beneath
πΊ️ Exact location
After obtaining Daedalus's Key, you'll encounter a fork in the path. Always choose the LEFT muddy route. Continue until the second illuminated platform before solving the beam puzzle.
π How to unlock
- Obtain Daedalus's Key.
- Unlock the sealed door.
- Take the muddy left path.
- Align all three colored beams.
- Open the Hero's Grave.
The tomb is reached through the smaller side path rather than continuing directly along the main route.
⚔️ Technique: Focus Rush
Killing an enemy with this Blade increases Sophia's Focus Gauge.
π― Best use
Ideal for aggressive combat builds that rely on Focus abilities. If you frequently use Focus-based skills, Sica can help you refill the resource while fighting groups of enemies.
❗ Missable?
No. The Sica can be collected later using Chapter Select.
Chapter 7 — Khopesh
π Chapter / Sub-chapter
Chapter VII — Death It Sowed
πΊ️ Exact location
Look for the enormous stone statues after entering the ruined valley.
Navigation
- Stay on the left side of the ruins.
- Reach the large stone monument.
- Solve the three-light sphere puzzle.
- Enter the Hero's Grave.
The monument is located in the large open area after the underground section.
π How to unlock
Complete the optional monument puzzle. Stand on the appropriate platform and use the sphere to align the three colored beams with their matching targets.
⚔️ Technique: Deep Bleed
The final combo hit inflicts a wound that deals damage over time.
π― Best use
Excellent for bosses because the bleed continues damaging enemies while you evade. Khopesh is particularly useful if you prefer applying damage and then creating distance rather than staying in melee range.
❗ Missable?
No. The Hero's Grave can be revisited through Chapter Select.
Chapter 9 — Broken Spear
π Chapter / Sub-chapter
Chapter IX — Night Has Come
πΊ️ Exact location
After surviving the creature chase through the ruins, explore the crumbling structure instead of following the main objective. The Blade is found near the beginning of the route toward the palace.
π How to unlock
- Reach the section where the creature attacks the fleeing man.
- Immediately explore the leftmost route.
- Climb the nearby ledge.
- Find the Hero's Grave.
- Enter the tomb and open the treasure chest.
The two lanterns around the tomb also help identify the area.
⚔️ Technique: Sprint Assault
Sprint attacks pierce enemy guards and shields.
π― Best use
Perfect against heavily armored soldiers. If you're facing enemies who normally force you to wait for an opening, Sprint Assault gives you another way to pressure their defenses.
❗ Missable?
No. You can return through Chapter Select if you missed the tomb.
Chapter 10 — Xiphos
π Chapter / Sub-chapter
Chapter X — Parallel Paths
πΊ️ Exact location
The final collectible Blade is hidden during Faro's forest Light Beam puzzle.
Navigation
- Cross the stream.
- Enter the forest clearing.
- Break the nearby pots to reveal the hidden blue light.
- Align all three beams.
- Open the Hero's Grave.
The hidden blue light is particularly easy to overlook, so make sure to destroy the pots around the puzzle area before trying to complete the alignment.
π How to unlock
Reveal the hidden blue beam before rotating the remaining lenses. Once the three colored beams are correctly aligned, the Hero's Grave opens and you can collect the Xiphos.
⚔️ Technique: Parry Break
Parrying inflicts greatly increased stun damage, but Sophia can no longer block normally.
π― Best use
The highest-skill weapon in the game, designed for players who consistently land perfect parries. Xiphos rewards precise defensive timing, but its inability to block normally makes it less forgiving for beginners.
❗ Missable?
No. You can return to Chapter 10 through Chapter Select.
DLC — Hero's Blade
The Hero's Blade is included with the Heritage Pack and shares the Momentum Strike technique with the Falchion.
It does not replace any story Blade and is acquired alongside the Falchion during the Chapter 2 story sequence if you own the relevant Heritage Pack content. It is the bonus ninth Blade and is not required for the standard Blade-collection trophies.
⚔️ Technique: Momentum Strike
Deal bonus Blade damage immediately after performing a successful Critical Strike.
π― Best use
It functions similarly to the Falchion and is a good option for players who enjoy building their combat around Critical Strikes.
❗ Missable?
DLC only. You need the relevant Heritage Pack content to obtain it.
Best Blade for Each Playstyle
If you're unsure which Blade to upgrade first, the Falchion is the safest all-round choice until later chapters. For players who prefer crowd control, the Greek Sword is an excellent alternative. Advanced players who have mastered parrying can get considerably more value from the Xiphos.
Trophy & Achievement Guide
Collecting and using the Blades contributes to two important achievements.
Plunderer
- Collect every standard Blade found throughout the game.
Adaptable
- Defeat at least one enemy using every Blade.
The DLC Hero's Blade is not required for the standard Blade trophies. Current trophy guides confirm that the eight standard Blades are the ones required for Plunderer, while Adaptable requires a kill with each of those standard Blades.
If you skipped a Blade during your first playthrough, use Chapter Select to return to its chapter.
FAQ
Can I get every Blade in one playthrough?
Yes. All eight standard Blades can be collected during the story, while the Hero's Blade requires the relevant Heritage Pack DLC. If you skip an optional Hero's Grave, you can return through Chapter Select.
Which Blade is the strongest?
For most players, the Greek Sword offers the best balance thanks to its Spinning Slash crowd-control ability. Advanced players may prefer Xiphos for its powerful parry-focused technique.
Are Hero's Graves missable?
They are optional during the story, but the Blades are not permanently missable. If you overlook a Hero's Grave, you can replay the relevant chapter using Chapter Select and collect the Blade later.
Does Hero's Blade count toward achievements?
No. The DLC Hero's Blade is a bonus weapon and isn't required for the standard collectible trophies.
Which Blade should beginners use?
The Falchion is the safest all-round choice because Momentum Strike rewards the basic Critical Strike mechanic without imposing a major change to Sophia's normal combat style.
Do I need every Blade for 100% completion?
Yes, if you're aiming for the Blade-related Plunderer and Adaptable achievements. You also need to use every standard Blade against an enemy for Adaptable, so don't stop at simply collecting them.
