Chapter 4 Vengeance Objectives

Chapter 4 begins with Garek and Ilastar approaching the ruins of Stratholme.

Your main quest is:

The Baron

• Find and defeat Baron Rivendare.
• Garek must survive.
• Ilastar must survive.

The mission gives you a much larger force-management problem than a simple hero mission. You can recruit additional units, research upgrades and use Survivor Camps while moving through the ruined city.

You also have an optional objective involving the plague-spreading mushrooms.

The main story objective remains Rivendare, but completing the optional objectives can make the later sections easier.

Enter Stratholme Through the Side Gate

The main entrance is not immediately available.

Ilastar offers to enter through a side gate and raise the portcullises from inside. Once she reaches the elevated section, she remains above Garek's ground forces and can scout ahead while supporting the army.

This creates an important early division of roles:

• Garek leads the ground forces.
• Ilastar operates from the elevated route.
• Ilastar can provide ranged support and healing.
• Your ground army should continue clearing the Scourge below.

Do not wait for Garek to force his way through the main entrance. The side route is the intended way forward.

Once the gate opens, Ilastar can continue scouting from above while Garek moves deeper into Stratholme.

Use the Survivor Camp

After reaching the survivors, you gain access to a Survivor Camp that acts as an important forward recruitment and supply point.

The Survivor Camp increases your available Food Supply and lets you recruit additional units.

Depending on the stage of the mission, you can use it to add units such as:

• Footmen
• Mortar Teams
• Priests
• Sorceresses

Mortar Teams are particularly useful against fortified Scourge positions because of their long-range siege damage.

Priests provide healing and support, while Sorceresses give you additional crowd-control options such as Slow.

You should also keep an eye on your Food Supply. Once you reach the limit, you will need additional Farms before you can continue producing units.

This makes the early part of Vengeance feel much closer to a traditional Warcraft III mission than the more RPG-focused systems introduced elsewhere in Forsaken Kingdom.

Open the First Gate

As you clear the early Scourge defenses, you will reach Alonsus Chapel and the surrounding defensive structures.

One of the important early threats is the Crypt.

Use your Mortar Teams against defensive structures when possible rather than sending your melee units directly into every position.

After dealing with the defenses, you can activate the first lever.

However, this does not completely solve the gate problem.

If you activate the first lever and find that the main gate remains closed, that is intentional.

You need another lever.

Find the Second Lever

The next objective is to find the second lever.

The mission explicitly points out that the gate is still closed and that another lever must be somewhere nearby.

This is where Ilastar becomes especially important.

Move Ilastar along the elevated battlement route and look for the second lever. Once it is activated, the gate can finally be opened and your forces can regroup.

You also encounter additional human reinforcements during this section, including Riflemen.

This is a good point to invest in Blacksmith upgrades if you have enough resources.

Defeat Ras After He Becomes a Lich

One of Chapter 4's biggest story moments happens when you encounter Ras Frostwhisper.

Ras begins the sequence as a human spellcaster, but he declares that the Kirin Tor rejected his talent and ambition.

He then embraces undeath and transforms into a Lich.

This is an important distinction because Ras is not simply introduced as an already-existing Lich in this chapter. His transformation happens during the mission.

Once the transformation is complete, you must fight him and his Scourge forces.

How to Handle Ras

Ras is supported by additional undead units, including Necromancers and Meat Wagons.

A useful target priority is:

1. Dangerous support units such as Necromancers
2. Meat Wagons and other high-damage threats
3. Remaining nearby Scourge forces

The final mushroom can be found around the Dungeon Gate section of the city.

Reach Crusader Square

As you push farther through Stratholme, you eventually reach another locked route.

This gate requires the Crusader Square Key.

Lorthiras

Grimthane

Reach Profane Tower

Eventually you reach the Profane Tower, where Baron Rivendare is holding court.

This is the final major section of Chapter 4.

You can still find survivors around the city while progressing toward the tower, so completing civilian rescue opportunities does not necessarily mean stopping the main objective.

Before entering the final encounter, make sure:

• Garek is healthy.

How to Beat Baron Rivendare

Baron Rivendare is the final major boss of Chapter 4.

The fight is not simply a matter of surrounding Rivendare and attacking until his health reaches zero.

The arena contains dangerous area attacks, plague effects and additional objectives.

Red targeting indicators appear across the battlefield to warn you about incoming attacks.

Keep Your Heroes Moving

Do not leave Garek and Ilastar standing in dangerous areas.

When the red warning zones appear, move your units away from them while maintaining enough pressure on Rivendare.

Garek should remain close enough to control the frontline, while Ilastar should provide support from a safer position.

The important part is not to sacrifice Garek simply to keep attacking the boss.

Watch for the Plague

During the fight, Garek and Ilastar become infected by plague spores.
