Cyberpunk 2077 Reaper Chip Server Location: How to Deactivate the Chips in Clampdown

Updated October 26, 2026

First-person in-game screenshot of Cyberpunk 2077's 'Clampdown' quest, showing the player character's hand interacting with a high-tech 'REAPER CHIP SERVER' terminal in a red-lit server room, with the mission objective to deactivate Miguel's and V's chips visible on the HUD.

The Reaper Chip Server is one of the easiest things to overlook during the Clampdown quest in Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.5. After reaching the Security Cortex, you must find the correct server connection to deactivate the execution chips implanted in V and Miguel, with an optional opportunity to help Wex.

The problem is that several terminals in the room allow you to jack in, but they do not all control the Reaper chips. Even after finding the correct server, you must deactivate V's chip before the prison's execution countdown finishes.

This guide explains exactly where to find the Reaper Chip Server, which terminal to use, which chip to deactivate first, and how to recover if V flatlines.

Quick Answer: Where Is the Reaper Chip Server?

The correct Reaper Chip Server is inside the small red-lit server room connected to the Security Cortex.

Enter the room, turn around to face the doorway you came through, and look immediately to the left of the exit. Approach the server connection labeled REAPER CHIP SERVER and select Jack In.

Once Meshuga grants access, prioritize Deactivate your Reaper to stop V's execution countdown. If you want to complete Wex's optional objective, deactivate Wex's chip before finishing Miguel's required deactivation.

Don't confuse the correct connection with SERVER FARM or CONTROL TERMINAL. Those are separate interfaces.

Where to Find the Reaper Chip Server in Clampdown

You reach the Security Cortex during the prison escape after obtaining King's smuggled equipment and fighting through the guards.

Before you can deactivate the chips, Meshuga needs information from the prison database.

Step 1: Read the Reaper Chip Records

Inside the Security Cortex, locate the main computer terminal and jack into it.

Open the Files section and examine the prisoner records for:

  • V
  • Miguel Serrano
  • Wexlyn Carver (optional)

These files contain the information needed to identify the Reaper chips.

The records are read-only, so you cannot deactivate the chips directly from this computer.

After obtaining the required information, Meshuga directs you to find the Reaper Chip Server.

Step 2: Enter the Red-Lit Server Room

Move into the nearby server area connected to the Security Cortex.

You will see several server racks, cables, and interactive connections. Some of these have their own Jack In prompts, which makes it easy to mistake them for the objective.

The correct server is not necessarily the first interactive rack you encounter.

Step 3: Turn Around and Face the Doorway

Once inside the server room, turn around so you are facing the entrance you just used.

Look immediately left of the doorway.

You should find a server connection with the interaction label:

REAPER CHIP SERVER — Jack In

On PC, the displayed interaction uses F by default.

Move close to the connection and jack in to begin the deactivation sequence.

Location tip: If you have checked several servers without progressing, return to the doorway and inspect the connection beside it. You do not need to keep testing every rack along the walls.

Which Terminal Should You Hack?

The Security Cortex contains multiple interactive devices, but each serves a different purpose.

Records Computer

This is the main computer where you examine V's, Miguel's, and Wex's records.

It provides the information required for the next objective but does not deactivate the chips.

Server Farm

A separate connection is labeled SERVER FARM.

You can jack into this interface, but it is not the connection needed to complete the Reaper chip objective.

Control Terminal

The CONTROL TERMINAL is another interactive device near the desk and monitors.

It is separate from the Reaper Chip Server.

Reaper Chip Server

This is the correct connection for disabling the execution chips.

Look for the exact label REAPER CHIP SERVER beside the doorway in the red-lit room.

If you can jack into a terminal but the chip-deactivation sequence never begins, check the terminal's name before assuming the mission is bugged.

How to Deactivate the Reaper Chips Before V Dies

After connecting to the correct server, prison security detects the intrusion and attempts to activate V's Reaper chip.

A warning appears:

REAPER: ACTIVATING...

The upload percentage rises while Meshuga works to bypass the security system.

Follow these steps:

  1. Jack into the REAPER CHIP SERVER.
  2. Wait for Meshuga to begin accessing the system.
  3. When the dialogue choice appears, select Hurry! to urge Meshuga to continue.
  4. Watch for Meshuga to announce that Reaper access has been granted.
  5. Immediately choose Deactivate your Reaper.
  6. After V's chip is successfully disabled, handle the remaining chip objectives.
  7. Jack out once the required deactivations are complete.

The important moment is when Meshuga announces that access has been granted. The deactivation options become available, but the activation countdown may still be running.

Choose V's deactivation promptly rather than waiting for the upload percentage to approach 100%.

[Screenshot: Reaper activation countdown with the chip-deactivation dialogue choices visible.]

What Does “Reaper Access Granted” Mean?

It means Meshuga has successfully opened access to the chip controls.

You can now select the available deactivation options.

The countdown is not something you need to let finish. It represents an immediate threat to V.

Which Reaper Chip Should You Deactivate First?

There are three chip-deactivation choices, but only two are required to progress.

Deactivate Your Reaper — First Priority

Choose V's chip first.

Prison security is actively attempting to execute V through the Reaper system.

Disabling V's chip before activation completes removes the immediate threat and allows you to handle the remaining objectives.

Deactivate Wex's Reaper — Optional

Wex is the prisoner V meets after waking up inside the prison.

Her Reaper chip can also be deactivated, but this is an optional objective.

If you want to help Wex, select Deactivate Wex's Reaper before completing Miguel's deactivation. This avoids the risk of progressing past the optional choice.

Deactivating Wex's chip removes that execution threat, but it should not be treated as a guarantee about every event that might happen to Wex later.

Deactivate Miguel's Reaper — Required

Miguel is the prisoner King's crew is attempting to rescue.

His chip must be disabled for the rescue operation to continue.

After securing V's safety and handling Wex's optional objective, select Deactivate Miguel's Reaper.

Recommended Priority

For players who want to complete every available chip objective, use this priority:

V first → Wex if desired → Miguel

This is a recommended approach, not a claim that every chip must be selected in one rigid sequence.

The essential requirements are to disable V's chip before the lethal countdown finishes and complete Miguel's required deactivation. Wex's chip is optional.

Why V Flatlines When Reaper Activation Reaches 100%

If V collapses while connected to the server, the Reaper activation may have completed before V's chip was successfully disabled.

The system can display:

REAPER ACTIVATION SUCCESSFUL

When the lethal sequence finishes, V suffers fatal brain damage and the game ends with a FLATLINED screen.

This is a failure condition built into the encounter, not necessarily a software bug.

How to Prevent the Reaper Activation Failure

The safest approach is to know which option you need before the menu appears.

As soon as Meshuga grants access, select Deactivate your Reaper.

Do not spend the remaining countdown time exploring the other choices or prioritizing Wex and Miguel.

What If V Already Flatlined?

You can retry without restarting the entire Clampdown quest.

  1. Select Load Last Checkpoint from the death screen.
  2. Return to the Reaper Chip Server if necessary.
  3. Jack into the correct connection.
  4. Wait for Meshuga to grant access.
  5. Deactivate V's Reaper promptly.
  6. Complete Miguel's required objective and Wex's optional objective if desired.

The checkpoint may return you directly to the Security Cortex server area, saving you from repeating the entire prison infiltration.

Reaper Chip Server Not Working? Try These Fixes

If you are stuck in the Security Cortex, the first step is to identify whether the problem is the server location, the chip countdown, or the objective itself.

The Prisoner Records Are Read-Only

This is normal.

The records computer only provides chip information. You must move to the separate Reaper Chip Server to deactivate the implants.

Every Server Appears to Be the Wrong One

The room contains several interactive connections.

Return to the doorway, face the exit, and inspect the server immediately to its left.

The correct connection is labeled REAPER CHIP SERVER.

You Can Jack In, but the Objective Doesn't Advance

Check whether you are connected to SERVER FARM or CONTROL TERMINAL.

If so, disconnect and locate the correct Reaper Chip Server.

Do not assume that every available Jack In prompt leads to the mission objective.

V Keeps Dying During the Server Interaction

Watch the REAPER: ACTIVATING... warning.

If the activation completes before V's chip is successfully disabled, V flatlines.

Reload the checkpoint and select Deactivate your Reaper as soon as Meshuga grants access.

The Objective Remains After Deactivation

Confirm that both required chips have been disabled:

  • V's Reaper
  • Miguel's Reaper

If you have completed both, jack out and allow the next dialogue and objective update to occur.

If the mission still does not advance, reload the most recent checkpoint and repeat the interaction. Treat this as a troubleshooting step rather than a guaranteed fix for every possible quest bug.

What Happens After Deactivating the Reaper Chips?

Once the required chips are disabled, V reports that the Reapers are deactivated, and King's crew continues the rescue.

The next objectives take you out of the Security Cortex and deeper into the prison escape.

Leave the Security Cortex

Jack out and follow the objective marker toward the exit.

Prison guards will attack in the corridor, so be prepared for another firefight.

Fight Through the Prison Yard

After clearing the corridor, take the elevator marked 01: Yard.

The yard contains several hostile guards, armored security personnel, and an airborne drone.

Defeat the enemies and follow King's instructions toward the Armory.

Recover Your Gear and the Mine

Inside the Armory, retrieve your confiscated equipment and the explosive mine needed later in the escape.

If the quest becomes stuck on Wait for Meshuga's Instructions after recovering your gear, see our Cyberpunk 2077 Clampdown Stuck Waiting for Meshuga? Armory Bug Fix.

That guide covers the Armory guard workaround and other troubleshooting steps for the stalled objective.

Continue Toward Crisis Control

Later in Clampdown, you will reach the Crisis Control Room and face another decision involving the prison's Reaper system.

This is separate from deactivating V's and Miguel's personal chips in the Security Cortex.

You will also encounter Darius Bale in powered armor during the escape. For help with his weak point, combat strategy, and collectible reward, read our Cyberpunk 2077 Darius Bale Boss Guide: Weak Point & Perk Shard.
