Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen — Mired Conduit Evil Eye Guide and Rewards

Updated October 10, 2026

An infographic header image featuring the massive Evil Eye creature from the Mired Conduit dungeon in Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen. The large central eye and tentacles are collapsing into mist and fire within a glowing portal frame, all set in a dark, crystal-lined cavern. Stylized banners display the game's logo and the guide title, 'MIRED CONDUIT EVIL EYE GUIDE & REWARDS,' along with icons and labels for 'Where to Find Mired Conduit', 'Unmaking Arrow Tactics', and 'High-EXP Boss Rewards (+330k XP)'.

The Evil Eye in Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen can turn a promising boss fight into a frustrating encounter when it retreats before you can finish it. The Mired Conduit also holds valuable rewards, making it worth understanding the fight before spending a rare item or returning to the dungeon.

You can fight the Evil Eye with your regular weapons and skills, or use an Unmaking Arrow for an instant kill. The arrow is optional, however, and its automatic-save effect makes it important to choose your moment carefully.

Where to Find the Mired Conduit Evil Eye

The Evil Eye encounter takes place inside the Mired Conduit in the Enoa'Battahl Forest region. The route is connected to Coral Snakes' Hideout and the Mercy Among Thieves quest.

If you have not opened the route yet, progress through the relevant quest and follow the passage leading into the dungeon. The Mired Conduit contains winding underground corridors and crystal-lined chambers before opening into the large arena where the Evil Eye appears.

Prepare before entering. Bring healing items, make sure your Pawns are properly equipped, and consider resting nearby so you do not enter the dungeon with depleted maximum health.

Why Does the Evil Eye Escape?

One frustrating feature of this encounter is that the Evil Eye may retreat before you manage to kill it.

When this happens, the encounter ends without the normal boss-defeat sequence. That is different from killing the creature and opening the route to the inner sanctum.

The exact retreat trigger is not established. Do not assume that the Evil Eye always escapes after a fixed amount of time or at precisely half health.

If the boss disappears before you defeat it, check the encounter's state before deciding whether to attempt the fight again. A retreat should not be treated as a confirmed kill or as proof that you have received the full rewards.

The key distinction: forcing the Evil Eye to retreat is not the same as killing it. If your goal is the boss's defeat rewards and access to the inner sanctum, you need to finish the encounter.

How to Fight the Mired Conduit Evil Eye

The Evil Eye uses dangerous attacks while protected by a magical barrier. Its tentacles can sweep across the arena, while its spells can catch party members who remain in dangerous areas for too long.

1. Watch the tentacles

Avoid standing directly beside the boss when its tentacles begin sweeping across the arena. Move out of their path and look for opportunities to attack between dangerous movements.

Ranged attacks can help you keep dealing damage without remaining close to the tentacles throughout the fight. If you prefer melee combat, pay attention to your positioning and avoid staying in the path of repeated sweeps.

2. React to spell warnings

Your Pawns may call out when the Evil Eye prepares a dangerous spell. Pay attention to these warnings instead of concentrating entirely on the boss's health bar.

When a major attack is being prepared, reposition and avoid lingering in areas threatened by the spell. Powerful attacks can incapacitate Pawns, leaving you with fewer allies during the encounter.

3. Use a flexible combat approach

A Warfarer can switch between ranged attacks and close-range weapons, offering flexibility when the boss's position or attack pattern changes. An Archer can also maintain distance and attack with a bow.

However, changing vocations or weapons does not guarantee that the Evil Eye will remain in the arena. Focus on dealing damage while avoiding unnecessary hits rather than relying on a particular weapon or damage threshold to prevent its retreat.

4. Keep your Pawns alive

Revive downed Pawns when it is safe to do so. Fighting alone while the Evil Eye continues using its area attacks can make the encounter considerably harder.

Carry appropriate healing and revival supplies, and avoid rushing into another attack when your party is already in trouble. Keeping your allies active gives you more opportunities to deal damage and recover from mistakes.

Can an Unmaking Arrow Kill the Evil Eye Instantly?

Yes. An Unmaking Arrow offers an alternative to fighting through the Evil Eye's normal attack sequence.

To use it:

  1. Make sure you are using a compatible physical bow with a vocation that can use the arrow, such as Archer or Warfarer.
  2. Equip the Unmaking Arrow.
  3. Aim carefully at the Evil Eye.
  4. Fire when you are ready to commit to the shot.

A direct hit with an Unmaking Arrow defeated the Evil Eye in the Mired Conduit encounter, immediately depleting its health bar. This bypassed the extended fight and its tentacle and spell attacks.

Important: firing the arrow triggers an automatic save

The Unmaking Arrow's biggest drawback is that firing it triggers an automatic save. It is a rare and valuable item, so do not use it casually.

Consider whether you want to save the arrow for another encounter before committing to the shot. You do not need an Unmaking Arrow to enter the Mired Conduit or attempt the Evil Eye fight.

Mired Conduit Evil Eye Rewards

After defeating the Evil Eye, continue into the newly opened inner sanctum and check the chest beyond the arena. In one successful clear, the chest contained the following rewards:

Chest reward Why it matters
Offering Flame An item associated with Lost Rites progression
Meteoric Cuisses Defensive leg armor
Allegoric Plate Heavy armor with strong defenses and several resistances
200,000 G A substantial gold payout
Two Wakestones Valuable revival items for dangerous encounters

These are the rewards from that clear, not a guarantee that every item will be available again on subsequent visits.

Meteoric Cuisses and Allegoric Plate

The two armor pieces are particularly notable if you are looking to improve your equipment.

Meteoric Cuisses provide substantial defensive stats for leg armor. Allegoric Plate offers strong physical and magical defense, along with resistance benefits against several status effects.

Check the equipment stats against your current gear and vocation before deciding which pieces to use. Weight, defensive values, and status resistances can all affect whether an item suits your build.

Boss defeat XP and Discipline Points

The successful Evil Eye kill also awarded 330,000 XP and 3,450 Dcp in one encounter. Treat these as the payout from that clear rather than a guaranteed amount for every attempt or a confirmed repeatable farming rate.

Make sure you distinguish the boss defeat from the chest rewards. After the victory animation, continue into the newly accessible area rather than leaving immediately.

Can you steal Malecryst Shards from the Evil Eye?

A Thief can successfully steal a Malecryst Shard during the encounter. This is a useful additional possibility if you are using a vocation with stealing skills, but the specific item and quantity should not be treated as guaranteed.

Is the Mired Conduit Worth Revisiting?

Lost Rites dungeons can be revisited, but that does not automatically mean every item in the Mired Conduit chest will be awarded again in the same way on every clear.

If you return to fight the Evil Eye, distinguish between defeating the boss again and collecting the same chest rewards again. The initial clear's 200,000 G, two Wakestones, and equipment should not be treated as guaranteed repeat rewards without confirming the conditions for subsequent visits.

If your main goal is to obtain valuable equipment and progress through the expansion, completing the encounter is worthwhile. If you are looking for a repeatable farming route, check the rewards available on later visits before investing time in repeated runs.
