Diana Krall's music can be an unpredictable thing with me - her voice is entertaining but not always her foremost strength. Yet with the proper arrangement framing her vocals her songs can be tempting. With the proper arrangement, what sells Krall's vocals is her terrific sense of rhythm and timing. When she released her debut album Stepping Out in early nineties, it was the hottest in a string of like-minded records that focused on her explanations of timeless pop standards. One could have plausibly expected this outstanding sounding, big-selling trend to continue into millennium. However, she opted to cut loose from her winning formula on her recent albums starting from her sixth album The Look Of Love. Those records left some of her followers disappointed and others -- excited about her willingness to creatively challenge herself.
The last time we heard from Diana Krall was around three years ago when she released her ninth studio album Quiet Nights. She is currently working on her tenth studio album Glad Rag Doll produced by T-Bone Burnett. The new album is set for release on September 25, 2012 through Verve Records.
