The 2001 animated blockbuster “Monsters, Inc.” is an enjoyable family comedy film with an excellent voice cast and amazing animation. The story is unique, funny and appealing for all ages. The computer animation is simply breathtaking. Billy Crystal and John Goodman deliver outstanding comic performances. The voice cast (comprising Academy Award winner James Coburn, Jennifer Tilly, Steve Buscemi, John Ratzenberger) also outstanding. The musical score from Randy Newman is perfect for the movie and makes it even more enjoyable. Randy outdone himself on the score and has created some quite memorable tracks, including “If I Didn't Have You” which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song. While they may not be the most unforgettable hits in Disney history, but they still succeed as melodic and quite enjoyable.
Just over a decade after its initial release, Randy and Disney joined up for another entertaining film “Monsters University”, a prequel to the 2001 film. Set during the college years of Sulley and Mike and will feature high quality animation Disney is famous for. For the heavy metal music fans there's a bit of that too, courtesy of Mastodon.
Monsters University is scheduled to hit theaters on June 18, 2013 and on the same day the soundtrack to the film will also be released.
