I remember seeing the first film of the “The Fast and the Furious” series when it came out on DVD back in 2001, and I thought to myself, "If they create this a series, there's a hell of a lot of profits to be made." With the exception of second installment, the franchise has met my expectations. Given that I wasn't ever expecting anything good quality, just a fun action movie about cops, cars and bad guys. That's what I've seen all the time, but when I saw the fifth installment in the franchise, I got something different - a well made film with a good plot and terrific acting. Fast Five (2011) marked the franchise moving on up from just popcorn action to a legitimate series, and Fast and Furious 6 takes it and runs.
In the F&F6, Luke (Dwayne Johnson) persuades Dominic (Vin Diesel) to assist him capture an ex-British Special Air Service soldier Owen (Luke Evans). Dominic brings together his group of expert criminals comprising including Brian (Paul Walker) and Mia, Dominic's sister (Jordana Brewster). Luke, Dominic and group intend on capturing Owen, but he has set them up while he carries out a robbery in another place. It is then find out that Owen has ties to infamous drug dealer Arturo (John Ortiz).
The action is vicious and the conclusion may leave a promising seventh entry in the making. As long as these movies are trendy, they'll be made. Franchise like these aren't made for the story, they're made for the money. The good news about this series is that it's become more about the story, and the money just seems to keep flowing in. I'm prepared for next installment, but I hope it's the last.
If you're a fan of The Fast and the Furious film series and looking forward to seeing the F&F 6 in the comfort of my own living room. Universal Pictures will release the film on DVD and Blu-ray on October 01, 2013. However, there is no word yet on if there will be any bonus materials or extras in the set.
