The 2014 Oscar Nominees were announced this morning, Thursday (16). Jared Leto, Pharrell Williams, U2, Arcade Fire and Karen O of Yeah Yeah Yeahs appear on the nomination list.
The lead singer of 30 Seconds To Mars nominated in the "Best Supporting Actor" category. He was nominated for the same category at the Golden Globes Awards, for his performance in Dallas Buyers Club (2013). In the film, Leto plays Rayon, a transsexual who has the HIV virus, for that actor and singer had to lose 18 pounds.
The U2 was nominated for "Best Original Song." They received the same nomination at the Golden Globes, with "Ordinary Love",for the film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. Besides the song, they also competing for the track "Let It Go" by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, animation Frozen (2013),"Happy" by Pharrell Williams, for the film Despicable Me 2, "Alone" by Bruce Broughton and "The Moon Song" by Karen O for the film Her.
William Butler and Owen Pallett of Arcade Fire, were nominated for "Best Soundtrack" for the film Her.
The 86th edition of the Oscars will take place on March 02, 2014 in Los Angeles.
