Disney Dreamlight Valley: Sand in the Hourglass Walkthrough

After unlocking the Royal Hourglass in Disney Dreamlight Valley, Jafar will send you on your next task: repairing the broken bridge in the courtyard. This is part of the "Sand in the Hourglass" quest, which will unlock new biomes and take you further into the magical world of Dreamlight Valley. Here’s a detailed walkthrough to help you complete this mission!

Step 1: Removing the Swirling Sands

Once you've obtained the Royal Hourglass, your first task is to clear the swirling sands blocking a path on the right side of the broken bridge. If you're standing directly in front of the broken bridge, turn to your right. You'll see the swirling sands that are obstructing the way.

To remove these sands, equip your Royal Hourglass from the menu wheel and approach the small swirling sands. Interact with them (on PlayStation, this is the Square button, even if the instructions say X). This will clear the passage.

Note: You can only remove the large swirling sands later in the quest after upgrading your hourglass, so for now, focus on clearing the small ones.

Step 2: Speaking to Jafar

With the passage cleared, continue forward into the small area at the end of the corridor. Here, you'll find the Statue Fragments and a Hologram Station. Go ahead and speak with Jafar, who will explain how to use the Royal Hourglass to find ancient fragments scattered around Dreamlight Valley.

Step 3: Using the Royal Hourglass

The Royal Hourglass works similarly to other tools, like the watering can or fishing rod. You can equip it through the menu wheel and use it by pressing the corresponding action button (Square on PlayStation).

When you activate the hourglass, a beam of light will appear, showing you the direction to go. The color of the beam helps you know how far you are from the target:

  • White means the object or fog is far away.
  • Yellow and dark means you're getting closer.
  • Flashing back and forth means you're near the target. At this point, quickly press the action button (Square) to gather the object or clear the fog.

Step 4: Finding the Statue Fragments

Now that you know how the Royal Hourglass works, use it to find the Ancient Statue Fragments. Both fragments are located in the area near the statue:

  • The first fragment is roughly in the middle of the small area.
  • The second fragment can be found near the Timebending Table, which glows blue.

Step 5: Finding the Old Plates

Once you have the two fragments, your next task is to collect Three Old Plates. Use your Royal Hourglass again to help find them:

  1. The first Old Plate is located immediately to the right as you exit the corridor and enter the courtyard.
  2. The second Old Plate is next to the Dreamlight Fountain at the docks.
  3. The third Old Plate can be found near a tree next to EVE's house at the docks.

Now, with all five items in your inventory, it's time to return to Jafar.

Step 6: Speaking to Jafar and Repairing the Statue

Head back to the Secluded Beach where you found the Statue Fragments and the Timebending Table. Here, you'll find the Hologram Station once again. Speak to Jafar, and he will give you a Detailed Guide to Repairing the Statue.

  • Open your inventory and select the guide.
  • Go to the Timebending Table, and in the Task tab, select Statue's Arm. The arms of the statue will be crafted.
  • Grab the statue’s arms and bring them back to the statue.

Now that the statue is glowing with its newly repaired arms, it’s time to move on.

Step 7: Repairing the Broken Bridge

Head back to the Broken Bridge in the courtyard. Speak to Jafar once more at the Hologram Station. He’ll tell you that you can now repair the bridge using the Royal Hourglass.

You will need 2,000 Fog to repair the bridge. If you don’t have enough Fog yet, use your Royal Hourglass to search for it, or complete fog duties from the menu to gather more.

Step 8: Completing the Quest

Once you’ve gathered enough Fog, head back to the broken bridge. If you have the required amount, Merlin will open the bridge for you, completing the "Sand in the Hourglass" quest.

With the bridge repaired, the next quest, "Your Eternal Reward," will start automatically.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You’ve completed the “Sand in the Hourglass” quest in Disney Dreamlight Valley and unlocked new biomes. This quest not only helps you progress through the game but also allows you to master the Royal Hourglass, a powerful tool that will aid you in many future tasks. Keep exploring, and enjoy the magical world of Dreamlight Valley!
