Paradise Lost (PL) are conceivably the most gifted and least renowned heavy / doom metal band of all time. They are also very dynamic, churning a new material out every other year. In a time when all hard rock and heavy metal sounds virtually the same, it is exciting to see a band go out on a limb and produce a truly outstanding music. PL have all the edge that you could ever want. However, they blend it with melody and artistic song arrangements. While most bands today only concern about how sharp and thick they can make their guitars, PL try to produce unforgettable songs. The meshing of guitars with keyboard playing generates a sound that is very rare in the metal genre.
Their previous album Faith Divides Us – Death Unites Us seems like a tighter, more focused record than its predecessors. PL seem far more concerned about writing high-quality metal songs than just creating dance beats. Once again, they proved why no one can touch them when it comes to harmonizing a dark ambiance and subject matter with totally tempting melodies.
After three years since their last studio album Faith Divides Us… Paradise Lost returns with their thirteenth studio album Tragic Idol, which is scheduled for release on April 23, 2012 though Century Media. The standard edition of the album will have ten tracks while the limited edition CD will contain additional two bonus tracks.
