Dear John by Nicholas Sparks (Book)

This is the second book I have read from this author. The first one I read was `The Last Song' I wanted to read it before seeing it on the big screen and I am glad that I did, as I like Nicholas Sparks writing style, which is very easy and enjoyable to read.

The story is about a young man named John Tyree, he is in the army and spending his leave with his father in his hometown, during his leave he meets Savannah at the beach. She is on a habitat for humanity mission with a group of students. John and Savannah quickly discover that they are soul mates and fall deeply in love. They share a summer romance before John return to the army. They both struggle with a long distance relationship and try to make it work, but unfortunately September 11th happens and John reenlists. Book, Dear John, Nicholas Sparks The long distance wears on their relationship. Savannah finds it difficult to not have John with her, and he eventually gets the DEAR JOHN letter while he is in Iraq. Years later he looks up Savannah to figure out what went wrong. The ending was unexpected for me.

Overall, I enjoyed this book and I now feel I have to read much more of him because it is by far one of the best novels I have read in quite a while, which surprised me since it's not in the typical genres I enjoy. However, it wasn't corny or mushy it gives you a look at real love. Whether you have it, had it and lost it, or never had it... you will love this book. I highly recommend it, especially for a nice easy vacation read.
