The Hunger Games Movie to hit theaters in March 2012

Suzanne Collins’ best selling novel “The Hunger Games” comes to life on the big screen on March 23, 2012, Lionsgate will produce a series of four films based on Collins’ three books “The Hunger Games (2008), Catching Fire (2009) and Mockingjay (2010)”. The first film of the series “The Hunger Games” is being directed by Gary Ross and produced by Jon Kilik and Nina Jacobson. Jennifer Lawrence will play the lead role of Katniss Everdeen, while Danny Elfman and T-Bone Burnett will compose the film’s score and the soundtrack will release by Universal Republic, along with the film.

The tale is set in a post- apocalyptic future in which civilization almost ruined itself. The civil lives are in poor condition due to war; as a result they have been separated into thirteen districts under new nation called “Panem”. Lately, there was an insurgency caused in the fall of District 13, which was removed by the supreme Capitol.

Katniss is a young girl living in District 12. She has spent most of her life caring her family following the loss of her father, turning into a proficient with a bow and arrow in order to support for her mother and younger sister. Gale, her companion and hunting partner also assists his family in this way.

When the yearly selection comes around, Katniss and Gale are anxious, and for better cause. Both have their names in the selection box. Once for every year above twelve, and once for every tessarae, urgent food provisions, they have deal for. Trading for additional admissions in the selection is a risky thing, for every year 2 compliments, a boy and a girl, are selected to enroll the arena and take part in the Hunger Games. It is a nasty, violent battle to the death. Two children from every district are given to a closed off arena and are prepared to battle to the death. Out of the selected twenty four children one could live. The whole event is broadcasted and the parents and the civilians are required to view as the contestants kill each other. Regions, like the Capitol, care for the event but the regions like District 12 has less interest.

In the previous year Katniss' qualified for the Games, much to Katniss' shock, her twelve year old sister Prim’s name is called this year. Katniss instantly volunteers in position of Prim and is sent off to the Capitol, together with the male tribute Peeta who has been selected, in order to train for the crucial killing game.
