Jonathan Levine 50/50 coming to DVD/Blu-ray in Jan.

Summit Entertainment will be releasing Jonathan Levine’s highly successful low budget comedy film 50/50 on DVD and Blu-ray January 24, 2012. The DVD will be available for the price of $26.99 SRP and the Blu-ray will cost $30.49. The DVD and Blu-ray releases will have bonus materials that include Deleted Scenes, Audio Commentary and The Story of 50/50.

50/50 is written by Will Reiser and is loosely based on his own life experiences. It stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, Anna Kendrick, Bryce Dallas Howard and Anjelica Huston. The story follows 27 year-old Adam (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) who has lately started having back pains. When he goes to see his doctor, he discovers that he has cancer on his spinal cord. After informing his fiancée Rachael (played by Bryce Dallas Howard), his buddy Kyle (played by Seth Rogan), and his highly emotional mother
Diane (played by Anjelica Huston), he attempts to take this head on and in stride. His mother is not only dealing with his illness, but she's also dealing with his father’s Richard (played by Serge Houde) illness and that just makes difficult everything even more. Through all of this, he is also required to deal with life problems and discovers who's actually going to be there for him. His interactions with all of these characters are absolutely comical, even when they aren't intended to be.

Regardless of the film being more about the humor, it is still a vital element of the film. It is usually presented to the audience in a realistic and touching manner. Seth Rogan is at his best and Philip Baker Hall, Matt Frewer and all the other actors give flawless performances. With a neat script, great directing, and perfect acting, this film doesn't have any negatives that I can think of and seems to hit on all cylinders.
