The Madagascar film series is entertaining and has something for everyone. It has an instantaneously engaging plotline with full of lovable characters such as Gloria “the Hippo”, Alex “the lion”, Melman “the Giraffe” and more.
Hans Zimmer who composed scores to many award wining films such as The Lion King and Inception has returned to this geographic genre, his music for the Madagascar 1 and 2 movies has been greatly undervalued. But both soundtrack CDs must be viewed from two viewpoints. First and conceivably foremost, they are both enjoyable and make wide use of modernized renditions of popular hits and this is well symbolized on both OSTs. Second, they both make use of the outstanding musicianship of Hans Zimmer. The negative aspect of both OSTs, however, is that they contain a bare sampling of his original scores. He applies a basic package of themes that come out in both movies, but noticeably he makes best use of them in "Madagascar 2."
