The original version of movie was realeased at the hype of Arnold Schwartzenegger's career and popularity. Regardless of its many flaws, the film, loosely based on the book by Philip K. Dick, was a smash hit and is still a great action sci-fi film.
Len Wiseman's newer version of Total Recall follows the same premise of the first film, during the 21st century in the aftermath of a destructive chemical war; the 2 left over inhabitable civilizations live in an uneasy state of underground conflict. On top of that, the factory worker Douglas Quaid is looking for a meaning in his tiresome life.
