Movie adaptation of Stephen King's CELL is in the works

Over the past several years there has been a surge of zombie movies: Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, Resident Evil, etc. By default, most zombie films are pure garbage and incredibly stupid. CELL appears to be Stephen King's answer to all that. There are few master storytellers like him, and his upcoming movie based on his best selling novel Bag of Bones will be more proof of that. There are few master storytellers who tackle this topic just like King, and his upcoming film based on one of his best selling novels CELL will be more proof of that.

Cargo Entertainment is currently gearing up to bring the movie version of CELL to the big screen. Tod Williams is attached to helm the adaptation based on a screenplay by Stephen King and Adam Alleca. Brian Witten and Shara Kay will produce it.

The story based on an incident that turns any person who happens to be on their mobile phone at the time into a zombie. Mass turmoil ensues and a few survivors join up and try to figure out what is going on and how to stop it.

This is not a new topic for King. Undead genre has been a theme in many of his books, most notably in "The Stand". But, this is a fresh idea, when modern technology like a mobile phone can turn a person into a zombie.
