Actress Shailene Woodley (The Descendants), whose scenes were already filmed as Mary Jane (MJ) for the upcoming sequel to the 2012 film “The Amazing Spider-Man" have been removed completely from the sequel but may include in the third installment. In my opinion, Peter Parker's love interest MJ should be featured in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" to play a major role in the sequel.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Woodley said in an interview: “I'm disappointed,” But I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason.”
Based on the plot, I can completely understand why they don’t want to introduce MJ’s character in the second installment. According to the director Marc Web: “The story should be streamlined and focus more on the relationship between Peter and Gwen.”
This decision is unfortunate for Shailene Woodley. Her performance as Mary Jane would probably be a step forward in her acting career.
Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Martin Sheen and Jamie Foxx will return to reprise their roles in the sequel.
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" will open in theaters on May 02, 2014.
