Kanye West performed private show for Kazakhstan President

Kanye West gave a private performance at the wedding of the grandson of Kazakhstan’s President, Nursultan Nazarbayev. The rapper has earned about $ 3 million from the gig.

The news was not well received by human rights activists. David Mepham, Director of Human Rights Watch said the Nazarbayev regime is accused of practicing torture and arbitrary arrest critical to the regime, among several other charges.

West was not the first pop star to perform particularly for a controversial leader. Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez and even human rights defender Sting, have also been criticized for doing the same.
