Aerosmith's Joe Perry to Make His Film Debut in "Cottonwood"

Aerosmith’s Guitarist Joe Perry will make his feature film acting debut in "Cottonwood". The musician will portray the character of Joe Walker in the movie, and will also compose the soundtrack for the independent film.

It will also star Anthony Michael Hall, Louis Gossett, Jr. and Alison Eastwood.

The script is based on the Stacy Dean Campbell 2004 book about "two families who find themselves united by tragedy and by the bonds of racial injustice" in West Texas. The story follows the town sheriff and grieving father of a lately deceased girl who hires a local woman to help care for his wife, and then finds himself in the middle of a racial firestorm when her husband’s purchase of a new mule ignites tensions in the small town.

Perry said he liked much of the script. "Despite it being a bit gloomy sometimes, the surprise ending made the story resonate with the reader, and I feel that the same will happen with the public going to the movies."
