Wish I Was Here soundtrack features Chris Martin and Cat Power

"Wish I Was Here" is the title of the song that Cat Power recorded in collaboration with Chris Martin of Coldplay for the soundtrack of the movie of the same name directed by Zach Braff (from "Scrubs" series and director of the film "Garden State", 2004).

The director explains that he sent a still unfinished version of the film to Martin and he soon brought the band to work on the song. Shortly after he concluded that the song needed a female voice and the two immediately thought of Cat Power.

Braff showed the film to Chan Marshall (the Christian name of singer) who accepted to record the song. Marshall recorded his voice first, Martin added some harmonies later and the production credit was given to Coldplay.

The "Wish I Was Here" track should be one of the hottest of 2014. Besides Chris Martin and Cat Power, the soundtrack will also features unreleased tracks from Paul Simon, The Shins and Bon Iver.

"Wish I Was Here" opens in the U.S. on July 18. The soundtrack will hit stores three days before the film’s release date.
