Getting Started Guide: Team Fight Tactics TFT

Team Fight Tactics (TFT) is one of the most played video games in the world. Here, we have compiled some useful tips to help you in making the most out of your TFT experience

Good composition at the beginning, middle and end of the game

If you are new to TFT then you may wonder whether it is possible to premeditate a following composition. The answer is: not always. To be a better player, he needs to adapt to what the game offers him and needs to understand how some compositions work and what their benefit is throughout the game.

At the beginning of a new match, some characters have teamed up with others found at the beginning of the game, such as Nidalee and Warwick: both Tier 1 characters easily found at the beginning levels. With the two champions on the field, the player gets the Wild bonus, giving them increasing attack speed each time they attack. Throughout the game, it is possible to go buy characters to increase their combinations. This way, the bonus increases and the composition gets stronger.

Adapt your build according to the store

The champions have Tiers from one to five, which determine the cost in gold and its rarity. Nidalee, for example, is a Tier 1 champion, meaning it costs one gold to buy it at the store. Already Gnar is Tier 4, and is only available in the store at levels 5 or more legend, with a small percentage.

Therefore, it is important to adapt the composition over time, as characters in Tier 4 and 5 only begin to appear in the store when reaching levels 5 and 6 (respectively) of legend. So, it's important to know which character you want to purchase and to think about whether it's worth buying levels or running the store to get that champion.

Use the best items for your makeup

We currently have extremely strong items for certain champions who constantly use mana such as Ashe, Varus, Aurelion Sol and Sejuani. The player should find which item fits the current game better. If you're facing many assassins, the Phantom Dancer is the ideal item, as it makes your carry immune to critical damage. A Kassadin with attack speed becomes an excellent combatant, receiving shield at each attack and being able to hold and mine the mana of the enemy characters.

It is important to remember that TFT items don’t follow the same premise as other LoL game modes. Therefore, it is common for you to see characters like Ahri using Guinsoo's Rageblade.

Look for characters or items that favor their composition in the carousel

During the rounds, there will be a time when all players will be taken to a special arena and may choose a champion, equipped with a random item. The important thing here is to balance what will bring the greatest impact to your composition. If it is a specific character, look for it on the carousel, but if someone picks it up first, go to plan B and pick up a character with an item part, aiming to mount an item that will upgrade your composition.

The carousel works in order of picks, inverse to the leading position. That is, players with fewer points will pick first, while others will be able to choose in the increasing order of points. Even if a player doesn’t pick a champion, the selection order will continue for the rest, so be quick.

Balance the economy of your legend

With each round, you win five pieces of gold. But it is possible to receive extra gold by fulfilling some requirements, such as saving gold, and receiving interest (every 10 gold coins accumulated, you receive one interest, and the maximum limit is five interest coins). Other chances of receiving gold are through a winning or losing streak, and the bonus of three Pirates (you can get up to four gold coins per chest).

The ideal is to be able to balance a solid composition with an average gold amount of 50 coins. In this way, you will earn at least ten gold coins per round, which you can use to buy champions or to scroll the store in search of specific characters.
